Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny quiet town. A lot of people who aren't aware of about the place mistakenly think that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time was not long in the city. Brugel was raised on Courtice located just outside Oshawa in Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an actress, However, following a dramatic expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance with her. She admitted in an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. Once I outgrew male partners and gave up, I decided to give up. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's case it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school which encouraged her to go in that direction. The teacher recommended that she try out for a school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her Master of Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, large and small. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian actor.
